This learning activity enables children to practise finding different representations of numbers and amounts. There are three parts to this matching activity; a numeral, a pictorial representation and an image of a maths manipulative. The aim of the activity is for children to find all three matching parts. One suggestion is to use this resource as a ‘memory game’ where each child has a card, for example the numeral, and they have to take it in turns to turn over a card and find their other two parts. Depending on the children in the setting, practitioners may choose to just use two of the cards in the set, for example the numeral and the picture card.
For each of our ten themes, all numbers from 1-20 are included to provide great opportunities for use throughout the year.

(ELG11) Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
