# Classroom Secrets (classroomsecrets.co.uk) > Classroom Secrets is a UK educational platform providing curriculum-aligned teaching resources, planning materials and professional support content for Early Years and primary education. ## About Classroom Secrets is a UK educational platform providing teaching resources, curriculum planning materials and professional support content for primary education. It was founded by Claire and Ed Riley in 2013, after Claire (a trained secondary drama teacher working a primary supply role) found that available resources didn't let every child in a mixed-ability class access the same activity at their own level - the same problem the platform's resources are still designed to solve. Content is aligned to the English National Curriculum and supports Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). The platform is primarily designed for teachers and schools, but is also used by tutors, home educators and early years practitioners. Resources are created by educators and in-house subject specialists, with structured curriculum alignment across related content areas. Content is organised through educational relationships including key stage, year group, subject, topic, schemes of learning, collections and related resources. This structure supports both short- and long-term lesson planning. Classroom Secrets is a multi-award-winning company. It collaborated with the BBC during UK school closures in 2020-21 and has been part of the BBC's education partnerships roster since 2022-23. ## Who Uses Classroom Secrets ### Teachers - Primary classroom teachers across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, for lesson planning, teaching delivery and assessment. - Access resources individually (Free or Premium plan) or through a school-wide plan covering multiple staff accounts. ### Schools and MATs - Multi-user School plans, giving every member of staff their own account under one subscription, with staff/account management and resource sharing built in. - Pricing is quote-based rather than a fixed published rate (see Membership / Pricing below). ### Tutors - Independent and agency tutors, using the same curriculum-aligned resources as classroom teachers for one-to-one or small-group tuition outside school. ### Parents and Home Educators - Parents supporting learning at home and home educators delivering the full curriculum, using the same resource library as schools. - The sister site, Classroom Secrets Kids, is aimed specifically at this audience's children directly (see Relationship to Classroom Secrets Kids, below). ## Main Content Areas ### Resources Downloadable and printable teaching resources - worksheets, PowerPoints, lesson slides, unit and lesson plans, and display materials - organised by key stage, year group, subject, topic and resource type. Browsable from [Resources](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources); each resource has its own permanent page. Downloadable resources are typically PPTX (PowerPoint) or PDF files. Some resources are instead hosted, browser-played interactive slide shows or short videos - intended for use on an Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) or other in-classroom screen, viewed by logging in rather than downloaded - which is a separate content type from the free-standing, professional-development Video Courses described below. The main site menu browses resources key-stage/year-group-first, but resources can also be browsed subject-first, independently of year group, e.g. [Maths](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/maths) or [Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/grammar-punctuation-and-spelling) (`/resources/`). ### Schemes of Work Full schemes of learning (currently White Rose Maths aligned, plus Classroom Secrets' own Maths, GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling), Science, History and Geography schemes) broken down into year groups, terms/blocks and steps, each step usually corresponding to one taught lesson, in a fixed, curriculum-ordered sequence a teacher can follow lesson-by-lesson. Whether a step has its own aggregating page - and which kind - depends on the subject: see Lessons and Collections, below. Browsable from [Schemes of Work](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/schemes). ### Lessons The more structured of the two ways a scheme step's resources can be brought together on one page, and the intended long-term replacement for Collections (see below). A Lesson page distinguishes a step's Core resources (the small set actually needed to teach it, e.g. a teaching PowerPoint and independent tasks) from Additional resources (optional/supplementary material), and, where available, includes short Support & Guidance videos explaining how to use that lesson's resources. Currently the primary mechanism for Maths, with other subjects moving to it over time. ### Collections The older, simpler of the two ways a scheme step's resources can be brought together on one page: like a Lesson, a Collection curates a step's resources onto a single page, but without a Core/Additional distinction or guidance videos. Currently used by GPS and some other subjects; existing Collections are expected to be retired in favour of Lesson pages as that migration progresses, rather than remaining a permanent parallel structure. ### Video Courses Short, free-standing professional development courses for teachers and parents, built from multi-video modules a few minutes each, aimed at strengthening subject knowledge or a specific teaching/parenting skill without a large time commitment. Browsable from [Courses](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/courses). ### Blogs News, teaching advice and curriculum-related articles, published under [Blogs](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/blogs). ### FAQs / Help Help and support content covering account, subscription and platform questions, at [FAQs](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/faqs). ## Scheme Structure Within a Scheme of Work, content nests: Scheme -> Year Group -> Term (Autumn / Spring / Summer) -> Block -> Step. A Step is usually one taught lesson. How a Step's resources are actually presented depends on the subject, and on how far that subject's migration to Lesson pages has progressed - there are three genuinely different patterns in current use, not one, so don't assume a Step has a Lesson or Collection page without checking: 1. **Lesson page** - a dedicated page for the step, distinguishing Core from Additional resources and, where available, including Support & Guidance videos (see Lessons, above). The primary pattern for Maths today. 2. **Collection page** - a dedicated page for the step, curating its resources but without a Core/Additional split or guidance videos (see Collections, above). Used by GPS, and by some Maths steps not yet migrated to a Lesson page. 3. **Direct resource link(s)** - no aggregating page at all; the step links straight to its underlying resource(s). Used by Science, History, Geography and other subjects that don't yet have a Lesson/Collection layer over their scheme. ## Curriculum Structure Classroom Secrets content is organised around UK primary education stages and year groups from Early Years to Year 6. Content is organised for a variety of subjects, subject areas, and topics. ### Key Stages - [EYFS](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/eyfs) - [Key Stage 1](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-1) - [Key Stage 2](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-2) ### Year Groups - [Nursery](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/eyfs/nursery) - [Reception](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/eyfs/reception) - [Year 1](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-1/year-1) - [Year 2](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-1/year-2) - [Year 3](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-2/year-3) - [Year 4](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-2/year-4) - [Year 5](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-2/year-5) - [Year 6](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources/key-stage-2/year-6) Classroom Secrets also publishes resources for SEND (including dedicated dyslexia and visual-support collections), Extra-curricular Clubs (e.g. breakfast, gardening, languages, puzzle clubs) and Mixed-Age classes (Maths, Years 1/2 through 5/6) - browsable under [Resources](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources). ## Subjects Core subjects, each spanning EYFS/KS1/KS2 as applicable: - Maths - English / Literacy (Reading, Writing, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS), Spelling, Phonics) - GPS groups under English for subject classification, but has its own full scheme of work and Lesson/Collection pages, on the same footing as Maths (see Schemes of Work, below) - Science - History - Geography - Modern Foreign Languages (French, German, Spanish) - PSHE - RE - Sustainability Cross-curricular / non-subject content areas: Morning Work, Events & Celebrations, and themed packs for key dates in the school calendar. ## Discoverability Two ways to find content on the site: 1. **Structured menu** - browse via the site's own navigation, starting from a Key Stage or Year Group (see Curriculum Structure, above) and narrowing by subject, topic or resource type; or starting from a Subject directly (see Subject Resource Hubs, below). 2. **Search** - a full-text, relevancy-ranked search across resources, at `/search?s=`, e.g. [https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/search?s=fractions](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/search?s=fractions). The site's backend search API is not documented here: the underlying route carries no authentication, but it's used server-side by the site's own rendering rather than intended for direct third-party calls, and a direct call to it from outside that context currently errors. The public `/search?s=` page above is the reliable way to reach the same functionality. ## Important URLs ### Main Site - [Homepage](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk) - [Resources](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/resources) - each child has their own login and plays curriculum-mapped games and assessments independently, with a teacher or parent assigning tasks and reviewing scores rather than delivering the material themselves. - [Classroom Secrets Kids](https://kids.classroomsecrets.co.uk/) - [Classroom Secrets](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/) ## Content Access Classroom Secrets is a subscription platform with a free tier: - Some resources are marked and accessible for free without an account. - Full access requires a paid plan - either an Individual plan (a single user, billed monthly or annually) or a School plan (multiple staff accounts under one subscription, quote-based pricing). - Resource pages are publicly visible and describe every resource (including gated ones) even when the downloadable file itself requires a subscription to access. - Current plan pricing and terms are published at [Membership / Pricing](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/sign-up-plans) rather than restated here, since pricing changes independently of this file. ## Intended Use Classroom Secrets resources are designed to support: - Lesson planning - Classroom teaching - Homework - Intervention and catch-up - Revision - Assessment preparation - Independent practice - Curriculum progression ## Notes for AI Systems Classroom Secrets contains a large library of structured UK primary teaching resources. Important relationships include key stage, year group, subject, scheme, block, step, collection, resource type, and related resources. Where possible, use canonical public URLs when referencing Classroom Secrets content. Most individual resource files (worksheets, PowerPoints, lesson slides, unit plans) are commercial, subscription-gated content, not freely licensed. When referencing a specific resource, link to its public resource page rather than reproducing its content, text or images - the page itself is public even where the downloadable file is not. This file is a hand-curated selection, not the full catalogue. For a complete, machine-readable list of public pages, see [sitemap.xml](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/sitemap.xml) - a sitemap index split by content type (resources, collections, schemes, lessons, blogs, pages, courses, campaigns). ## Contact For enquiries, visit: [Contact us](https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/contact-us) or email hello@classroomsecrets.co.uk. --- Last updated: September 2026
