Developing Questions to support using ‘but’ to join two short clauses together in a sentence. Using CVC and CCVC/CVCC words as well as common exception and high frequency words.
Expected Questions to support using ‘but’ to join two clauses together in a sentence.
Greater Depth Questions to support using ‘but’ to join two expanded clauses together in the same sentence. Includes the use of groups of sentences (short paragraphs).

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing Join two of four given sentences using ‘but’ (only one possible answer). Sentences use CVC and CCVC/CVCC words as well as common exception and high frequency words.
Expected Join two of four given sentences using ‘but’ (two possible answers). Short clauses used.
Greater Depth Join two of four given sentences using ‘but’ (two or more possible answers).
Sentences use expanded clauses.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Application)
