English Year 1: (1G6.3) Regular plural noun suffixes –s or –es [for example, dog, dogs; wish, wishes], including the effects of these suffixes on the meaning of the noun

Varied Fluency
Developing Questions to support recognising and identifying single nouns. Most words featured are easily decodable without split digraphs.
Expected Questions to support recognising and identifying single nouns. Words featured are decodable with knowledge of all phonetic sounds required for the Year 1 phonics screening.
Greater Depth Questions to support recognising and identifying single nouns. Some nouns used are in full sentences where sentences contain words which cannot be easily decoded.

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing List one noun in a given image. Most words featured are easily decodable without split digraphs.
Expected List three nouns in a given image. Words featured are decodable with knowledge of all phonetic sounds required for the Year 1 phonics screening.
Greater Depth Write a sentence about the nouns in the image. Nouns used are in full sentences where sentences contain words which cannot be easily decoded.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Application)
Developing Choose one noun to complete the single-clause sentence. Most words featured are easily decodable without split digraphs.
Expected Choose two nouns to complete the single-clause sentence. Words featured are decodable with knowledge of all phonetic sounds required for the Year 1 phonics screening.
Greater Depth Choose three nouns to complete the two-clause sentence using the conjunction ‘and’. Nouns used are in full sentences where sentences contain words which cannot be easily decoded.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Reasoning)
Developing Explain the error when labelling a picture with a noun. Most words featured are easily decodable without split digraphs.
Expected Explain the error when labelling a picture with a noun. Words featured are decodable with knowledge of all phonetic sounds required for the Year 1 phonics screening.
