National Curriculum Objectives
Mathematics Year 5: (5C5d) Recognise and use square numbers and cube numbers, and the notation for squared (2) and cubed (3)

Differentiation:

Beginner Calculate the squared values for numbers 1-12. Aimed at Year 5 Emerging.

Easy Calculate the squared values for numbers 5-12. Some questions involve identifying the number that is squared to give the square number. Aimed at Year 5 Developing.

Tricky Calculate the squared or cubed values for numbers 1-12 or calculating the square root of square numbers to 144. Aimed at Year 5 Secure.

Expert Questions mostly involve calculating the squared or cubed values for numbers 1-12 and identifying the square or cube root of square/cube numbers. Some questions may also involve indices (other than 2 or 3) for values 1-5. Aimed at Year 5 Mastery.
