English Year 4: (4G7.1) Standard English forms for verb inflections instead of local spoken forms [for example, we were instead of we was, or I did instead of I done]

 

Differentiation:

Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Varied Fluency)
Developing Select the correct pronoun in each sentence to complete them in standard English. Question includes simple sentences with a choice of ‘I’ or ‘me’.
Expected Select the correct pronoun in each sentence to complete them in standard English. Question includes sentences of varying length and words from the Year 3 and 4 spelling lists.
Greater Depth Select the correct pronouns in each sentence to complete them in standard English. Question includes sentences where ‘I’ and ‘me’ are used in the same sentence as well as the use of colloquialisms.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Varied Fluency)
Developing Choose whether you would use the pronoun ‘I’ or ‘me’ in each sentence. Question includes simple sentences with the use of ‘I’ or ‘me’.
Expected Choose whether you would use the pronoun ‘I’ or ‘me’ in each sentence. Question includes words from the Year 3 and Year 4 spelling lists.
Greater Depth Choose whether you would use the pronoun ‘I’ or ‘me’ in each sentence. Question includes the use of both ‘I’ and ‘me’ in each sentence for children to select which pronoun is needed.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Reasoning and Problem Solving)
Developing Write two sentences using either of the pronouns ‘I’ or ‘me’. Question includes a word bank to give a context and offer support in creating two simple sentences.
Expected Write two sentences using either ‘I’ or ‘me’ twice within the came sentence. Question includes the opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of using the same pronoun twice in the same sentence.
Greater Depth Write one sentence using both pronouns ‘I’ or ‘me’ as well as a colloquialism. Question includes the use of standard and non-standard English as well as the opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of using both pronouns in the same sentence.
