Are you looking for meaty, worthwhile and engaging resources linked to Bonfire Night? Then look no further as Classroom Secrets have got this covered.
Autumn has always been my favourite time of year. As a child, I loved having to wrap up warm so I could stand in a muddy field and watch the floppy, raggedy guy burn on top of the hot, glowing bonfire, whilst noisy fireworks exploded in a riot of colour above us. My excitement and imagination was further sparked when learning about the history of this annual tradition in school.
To help fire-up the imagination of the students in your class, check out our exciting range of differentiated resources below. Children can learn all about the daring plot to assassinate the king and blow up the Houses of Parliament whilst improving their reading and writing skills at the same time.
Whole Class Guided Reading
These texts are designed to be shared as a whole class. The questions are differentiated, so each child can access the text at their own level. This enables all students to participate in class discussions as specific questions can be directed at specific students.
The challenge activity presents questions in different styles to the comprehension sheet, so that children are exposed to a variety of question types. The questions have been grouped into abilities so that you can assign sections to specific children.
Teach your students about the people, events and traditions associated with the 5th November with the texts below, which are based on a fact file, recipe, poem and narrative.
