Y1 Grammar Punctuation and Spelling

Introducing Lower-Case Letters Lesson

This Introducing Lower-Case Letters lesson covers the prior learning of applying phonics sounds to label beach related words, before moving onto the main skill of recognising and using lower-case letters.

The lesson starts with a prior learning activity to check pupils’ understanding. If they need more practice, you can choose other resources for that step. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning with engaging reasoning and application tasks.

National Curriculum Objective
