Counting Back Lesson
This Year 1 Counting Back lesson covers the prior learning of using the language of subtraction, before moving onto the main skill of solving subtractions by counting back on a number line.
The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.

Mathematics Year 1: (1N4) Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
Mathematics Year 1: (1N2c) Read and write numbers from 1 to 20 in numerals and words
