This Year 4 Measuring Time in Seconds lesson covers the prior learning of finding the duration, before moving onto the main skill of converting between minutes and seconds.
The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.
National Curriculum Objective
Mathematics Year 3: (3M4d) Estimate and read time with increasing accuracy to the nearest minute; record and compare time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours; use vocabulary such as o’clock/a.m./ p.m., morning, afternoon, noon and midnight
Mathematics Year 3: (3M4e) Know the number of seconds in a minute and the number of days in each month, year and leap year
