National Curriculum Objectives

English Year 2: (2G3.2) Learn how to use expanded noun phrases to describe and specify [for example, the blue butterfly, plain flour, the man in the moon

Differentiation:

Varied Fluency
Developing Questions to support knowledge and use of noun phrases. Questions require some use of single adjectives and knowing the difference between adjectives and nouns.
Expected Questions to support knowledge and use of noun phrases. Questions require some use of multiple adjectives and knowing the difference between adjectives, pronouns and nouns.
Greater Depth Questions to support knowledge and use of noun phrases. Questions require some use of single or multiple adjectives and knowing the difference between nouns and other word types.

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing Use the word bank to create an expanded noun phrase.
Expected Use the word bank to create an expanded noun phrase. Write the created noun phrase into a sentence.
Greater Depth Use the word bank to create an expanded noun phrase. Write the created noun phrase into a sentence that must also contain a pronoun and adverb.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Application)
Developing Complete the sentences to include two different expanded noun phrases.
Expected Complete the sentences to include two different pronouns and two different expanded noun phrases.
Greater Depth Complete the sentences to include two different pronouns and two different expanded noun phrases to create a short paragraph.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Reasoning)
Developing Explain whether someone has completed a task correctly. Identify expanded noun phrases in a sentence.
Expected Explain whether someone has completed a task correctly. Identify expanded noun phrases and pronouns in a sentence.
Greater Depth Explain whether someone has completed a task correctly. Identify expanded noun phrases and pronouns in a short paragraph.

    When I download the powerpoint onto my computer and then enable edit the font changes and is not readable. I don´t have this problem with the Maths powerpoints.

    Please can this be looked into.

    • Hi, there is no difference with the way we create or save the two different PowerPoints so I’m not sure why it works for one and not the other! However, there is a really easy fix with this and replace the fonts in one go by clicking the drop down arrow on the ‘replace’ button. Then select replace fonts and you can change it to a font of your choosing. Hope this helps, Sian 🙂
