English Year 1: (1G6.3) Suffixes that can be added to verbs where no change is needed in the spelling of root words (e.g. helping, helped, helper)

Spelling: Apply the spelling rules for adding the endings –ing, –ed and –er to verbs where no change is needed to the root word.

Differentiation:

Varied Fluency
Developing Questions to support adding the suffixes ‘-ing’, ‘-ed’ and ‘-er’. All word choices are cvc, cvcc or ccvc and high frequency words.
Expected Questions to support adding the suffixes ‘-ing’, ‘-ed’ and ‘-er’. All word choices are phonetically decodable including all phonic sounds.
Greater Depth Questions to support adding the suffixes ‘-ing’, ‘-ed’ and ‘-er’. Some words are not phonetically decodable.

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing Complete and rewrite the sentences by choosing the correct word and adding the appropriate suffix. All word choices are cvc, cvcc or ccvc and high frequency words.
Expected Complete and rewrite the sentences by choosing the correct word and adding the appropriate suffix. All word choices are phonetically decodable words including all phonic sounds.
