War Horse Chapter 11 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter 11 of the popular novel by Michael Morpurgo. In chapter eleven, Joey and Topthorn are spending more time on the farm than pulling wounded soldiers on their cart as there are less injuries now. The hospital tent is packed up and sent elsewhere so the orderlies tell Emilie and her grandfather that they can look after the horses until the army calls them up for service again. Emilie is ecstatic and they are put to work on the farm. After a short while, another troop comes to the farm and stays on the meadow overnight. In the morning, they take Joey and Topthorn with them to help pull the large guns they are transporting. Emilie tries to stop them but her grandfather explains there is nothing they can do but allow them to take the horses. Joey remembers the last time he was tied to a cart and taken away against his will.
