War Horse Chapter 19 Comprehension

War Horse Chapter 19 Comprehension Whole Class Guided Reading

War Horse Chapter 19 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter nineteen of the popular novel by Michael Morpurgo. We recommend using this novel with Year 5 & Year 6. In this chapter, Joey is fully better and able to help with pulling the veterinary wagon to the front lines. Albert is still in charge of Joey so he also goes to the front line which comforts Joey. Albert's friend, David, goes with the wagon one day while Joey and Albert stay in the yard. David is killed by a stray shell and it clearly affects Albert. Soon after, the end of the war is announced and the men grow impatient waiting to return home. They finally get news from Major Martin that they will be leaving in time to get home for Christmas but they must leave all the horses behind. He explains the horses are to be sold off at auction. When Albert asks about Joey, the major leaves without saying anything.
