Expected Questions to support understanding of when to use the definite article ‘the’ and the indefinite articles ‘a’ or ‘an’. Use of more than one article within a sentence or greater variety of answers to choose from.
Greater Depth Questions to support Questions to support understanding of when to use the definite article ‘the’ and the indefinite articles ‘a’ or ‘an’. Use of more than one article within a sentence; a greater variety of answers to choose from and use of consonants which have vowel sounds/vowels which have consonant sounds.

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Reasoning)
Developing Children to explain the use of articles in one sentence.
Expected Children to explain the use of articles in two sentences.
Greater Depth Children to explain the use of articles in two sentences (sentences to include more than one article).

Developing Children to change a given sentence to include either a definite or indefinite article. Use of a simple change of article.
Expected Children to change a given sentence to include either a definite or indefinite article. They must add detail to make the meaning clear.
Greater Depth Children to change a given sentence to include both a definite and indefinite article. They must add detail to make the meaning clear.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Application)
Developing Children to create a sentence from a given word to include a definite or an indefinite article.
Expected Children to create a sentence from two given words to include a definite and an indefinite article.
Greater Depth Children to create a sentence from two given words to include a definite and an indefinite article. Words to include vowels which sound like consonants and consonants which sound like vowels.
