Use this KS1 Number the Events Reading Test Practice to give your pupils the opportunity to practise ordering and sequencing the events from texts they have read. The activity comes with three levels of differentiation:
Beginner: Includes 3 different text types (narrative, instructions and non-chronological report) followed by 2 opportunities to order 4 main events from the text. Aimed at Year 1 Expected.
Easy: Includes 3 different text types (narrative, instructions and non-chronological report) followed by 2 opportunities to order 5 main events from the text. Aimed at Year 2 Developing.
Tricky: Includes 4 different text types (narrative, instructions, non-chronological report and letter) followed by 2 opportunities to order 6 main events from the text. Aimed at Year 2 Expected
The activity covers the following National Curriculum Objectives:English Year 1: Understand both the books they can already read accurately and fluently and those they listen to by discussing the significance of the title and events
English Year 2: Develop pleasure in reading, motivation to read, vocabulary and understanding by discussing the sequence of events in books and how items of information are related
