Practise finding parts of wholes with our fun and engaging Year 1 Find a Part Practical Activities. Children can work alone, in pairs or in small groups to practise finding parts using sand, water, construction and more! Each of our activities comes complete with clear advice and ideas as well as colourful visuals for children.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Add and subtract one-digit and two-digit numbers to 20, including zero
  • Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (–) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing number problems such as 7 = __ 9
