Fun Christmas Activities for Key Stage 1
The Christmas season is here so school is even busier than normal. It might be challenging to teach some regular lessons over the next few weeks so we’ve suggested some of our favourite activities for the children to do. (Don’t worry they will still be learning but the children might not think it!)
Christmas Quiz
Get the children into teams and let’s see who knows the most about Christmas! Our KS1 quiz has different topics such as The Christmas story, Santa, traditions and even Christmas food.
You could use this as a starter for your Christmas party or just as a fun Christmas activity – where children can enjoy learning more about festive traditions and enjoy keeping score against their teammates!

Christmas multiplication activities
Our Christmas snowflakes are a great way to practice multiplication – use this as a starter to a maths lesson or as the children come in in the morning. We’ve included the answers so that the children can mark their own work. Can the children complete all the questions on the snowflakes?

Christmas colour by numbers
This is a great activity for Key Stage 1 children to practice their number bonds whilst enjoying colouring Christmas pictures at the same time. These are great for early finishers in your maths lesson or even for morning work to encourage the children to settle. What will the final picture be?

Christmas Crafts
Christmas is a time for crafts! Children will love making these reindeer hats – we’ve tried to make it as simple as possible so that some children can create this independently. That’s why you’ll find a template to help children with their cutting skills. They can then create their own individual reindeer hat – imagine a class full of reindeers! You could always extend this to write instructions about how they created their wonderful hat!

Reading animated poem
This is something a little different – a Christmas themed poem with sound and animation. You could use this in so many ways – enjoy and discuss the questions. Write your own version of the story, sequence the story, delve into the characters. Use it in the best way for you – we also have a text version as well. We have a poem for Year 1 and Year 2 so choose the one for you.
