We are pleased to announce the relaunch of The Teachers' Podcast!
After a hibernation, our ever-popular podcast aimed at teachers, teaching assistants and all those who work in classrooms is returning with a few changes to refresh it for 2026 while still retaining being a ‘helpful friend’. The biggest difference is that, instead of being hosted by Classroom Secrets CEO Claire Riley, the podcast has now got two hosts, both of whom are content specialists at Classroom Secrets, fresh out of teaching and bring experience from different ends of primary teaching!
Emma worked in primary and first schools across North-East England for twelve years, working as a teacher in EYFS and Key Stage One before taking on a role as Early Years and Key Stage One Lead in a small rural school in Northumberland. She has a passion for outdoor learning as well as exploring how to create purposeful outdoor learning environments and has supported other Early Years settings on their journeys to achieve this. Whilst teaching, Emma was also science and history lead and especially loved incorporating these themes into Early Years. She also had a year on supply which she attributes to being the best CPD of her life. As a teacher she was known for being caring, kind and very creative.... but she was also quite messy!
Chris worked in primary schools across Lincolnshire for twelve years, working as teacher, senior teacher and assistant headteacher in different settings. He mainly worked in Key Stage 2 and usually within Year 6, although there was one wonderful year with a Year 2 and 3 class! He was subject lead for English, maths, computing and geography at different schools and brings a passion for these subjects. He has the NPQSL and NPQLL qualifications and was an Evidence Lead in Education with an English specialism for the Lincolnshire Research School. You’ll be able to hear him flex his English chops in our upcoming episodes on orthography, morphology and etymology.
If you're looking for a podcast that truly gets the issues around life in the classroom, this is for you. Each episode, Chris and Emma will draw on their professional experiences to dive into the topics that really matter to teachers right now, sharing honest reflections, real-life stories and practical ideas you can actually use straightaway. Grounded in real classroom practice and informed by current educational thinking, their relaxed and down-to-earth chats feel like a conversation with colleagues over a cuppa—but with plenty of takeaways to support your own practice.
From school culture and outdoor learning to the ever-growing role of AI in teaching, they tackle a wide range of relevant and thought-provoking themes. With upcoming episodes exploring areas like continuous provision and cognitive load, there's there’s always something fresh and useful to take away for ready implementation. If you enjoy practical advice, a bit of humour and feeling like you’re not alone in the teaching world, The Teachers’ Podcast is for you!
Beyond the main discussion, there is also a Teacher Tips feature where the hosts share quick wins for your classroom. Have you ever wondered how to get your class to speedily tidy up after a particularly messy lesson? Are you constantly searching for pens? Do you need a way to guarantee that your pupils will not lose stationery again (note: not guaranteed)?
If so, Emma and Chris have got suggestions for all of these situations and many more! With two episodes releasing this week and then one a week after that each Tuesday, there will be plenty of content for you to get your ears around.
We would also love to hear suggestions for topics, Teacher Tips and anything else you want to share with the podcast – Chris and Emma can be contacted at theteacherspodcast@classroomsecrets.co.uk.
