We’ve launched a new website, and here’s why you should care…

My background is technology and I’m not a confident writer, so here’s some quick points I want to make about our new website that I believe will be useful for you to know. 

1. Built with user-experience at the forefront: we know our old website was pretty bad for navigation, searchability and it had no extra features that we wanted you to have access to. We were bound by the platform’s capabilities and didn’t have much flexibility. We’ve built our new website from a blank page, throwing out everything we already had and putting you, our customer at the centre. Building our new website wasn’t just about coding it, it was about making sure you have an intuitive and great experience that we can build upon over time. If you have new feature ideas, let us know. 

2. Updated, not just moved: We’ve taken the opportunity to update some of our older resources, rather than just doing a copy and paste job from old site to new site. 

3. Findability: You know when you put in a search term to a website and you get reams and reams of content but it’s just not quite right? We’ve worked hard to help you avoid that on our website. It means you’ll get fewer results, but that they’ll be the results you actually want and need. You can find resources via search or our navigation menu. 

4. The latest techno-jargon: We’ve built our site using the latest technology with security baked in by design. 

5. New features to build upon: We’re keen to give you access to features to truly make resourcing your lessons easier. We’ve got a list as long as all the arms of the children in your class, but for starters you’ll find:

     

• a personalised dashboard, showing you resources that are relevant to the year group you teach (and subjects if applicable)

   

• the ability to save resources to download later, or share them with a colleague/friend

   

• clear resource previews giving you a better idea of what you’re about to download

   

• a quick download option where you can download straight from the search page

   

• download history for those times when you wish you could remember that resource you want to download again

   

• a mobile friendly experience that auto scales no matter the device you are browsing from. 

There’s a lot there to fall in love with already, but for us, this is the beginning, not the end. We’re just going to keep making your experience (and our resources), better and better.
