Y2 Grammar Punctuation and Spelling
This Different Types of Verbs lesson covers the prior learning of recognising verbs in a sentence, before moving onto the main skill of recognising and using different types of verbs.
The lesson starts with a prior learning activity to check pupils’ understanding. If they need more practice, you can choose other resources for that step. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning with engaging reasoning and application tasks.
National Curriculum Objective
We recommend teaching the terminology of verb in Year 2 so that children understand the difference between the word types and the jobs that they have within sentences. The resources for this step will include the terminology of verb.
