Year 5 Subtract - Same Decimal Places

This Year 5 Subtract – Same Decimal Places lesson covers the prior learning of subtracting decimals within 1 and subtracting whole numbers with more than 4 digits, before moving onto the main skill of subtracting numbers with the same number of decimal places.

The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. If they need more practice, you can choose other resources for the steps here and here. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.
