Discussion points for teachers
- Help Allegra to work out how many visitors have entered. Discuss how the total number is being shown using knowledge of partitioning and exchange (for example, twenty-five ones can be exchanged for two tens and five ones).
- Have the tourists been grouped correctly? Discuss the different ways in which the numbers have been partitioned and whether they could be partitioned in any other ways.
- What number is missing from the final group? Discuss using knowledge of place value to compare the numbers and order them.
- Help Allegra to fill in the missing information. Discuss the different ways in which the totals have been broken apart.
