Discussion points for teachers

1. Help Allegra to work out how many visitors have entered. Discuss how the total number is being shown using knowledge of partitioning and exchange (for example, twenty-five ones can be exchanged for two tens and five ones).
2. Have the tourists been grouped correctly? Discuss the different ways in which the numbers have been partitioned and whether they could be partitioned in any other ways.
3. What number is missing from the final group? Discuss using knowledge of place value to compare the numbers and order them.
4. Help Allegra to fill in the missing information.  Discuss the different ways in which the totals have been broken apart.
