This resource enables children to learn all about the given number. It is split into multiple areas that allow for detailed familiarisation with the number. Children can practise recognising and forming the number and develop their understanding of the value of the number.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

(M-21) Count objects, actions and sounds.

(M-23) Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value.

(M-27) Explore the composition of numbers to 10.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Subitise (recognise quantities without counting) up to 5
  • Automatically recall (without reference to rhymes, counting or other aids) number bonds up to 5 (including subtraction facts) and some number bonds to 10, including double facts
