Explore 3D shapes with our EYFS Exploring 3D Shapes Provision Enhancement resource. Children will develop their knowledge of 3D shapes through maths, construction, small world and more using our carefully created activities, complete with advice and ideas.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

(M-29) Select, rotate and manipulate shapes in order to develop spatial reasoning skills.

(M-30) Compose and decompose shapes so that children recognise a shape can have other shapes within it, just as numbers can.

Curriculum Objectives

  • There is no Early Learning Goal for shape, space and measures, but it is important that the curriculum includes rich opportunities for children to develop their spatial reasoning skills across all areas of mathematics
