This London Bridge loop cards activity gives children the opportunity to practice subitising numbers to 5 or to 10. Subitising helps to develop children's understanding of linking the numeral to its value and recognising an amount without counting. These cards can be used in small groups, pairs or independently as the children match them in a loop. There are two versions of the loop cards included: one up to 5 and one up to 10.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception

Count objects, actions and sounds

Subitise

Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value


Curriculum Objectives

  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Subitise (recognise quantities without counting) up to 5
