Practise counting and making amounts using a range of manipulatives with our EYFS Making and Comparing Amounts resource. The child is given an instruction, for example: Find an amount that is greater than this one and the supporting adult places a card in one of the circles. The child then chooses a card to place in the other circle. The adult encourages the child to talk about the different quantities and prompt appropriate language.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

(M-21) Count objects, actions and sounds.

(M-22) Subitise.

(M-25)Compare numbers.
