Looking for a practical idea to teach counting in fractions? Use our Year 2 Count in Fractions up to a Whole Supporting Activity. Children will represent fractions using sticks of coloured cubes. They will place these in order to create fractions up to a whole number. Encourage children to create fractions including halves, thirds and quarters.

This activity could be completed individually, in pairs or in small groups; the choice is yours.
