This Year 2 Count Sides on 2D Shapes Supporting Activity is a fun and practical game for children to practise their skills in identifying the properties of shapes. Pupils pick a shape and must then turn over a digit card. If the card matches the number of sides on their shape, then they keep the shape. If it doesn't, then they must return it to the bag. The winner is the player who has collected the most shapes.

This activity would work well in pairs or small groups. It could also be run independently once introduced to children.
