What’s included in the Year 2 Lines of Symmetry on Shapes Homework resource and why is it useful?

Year 2 Lines of Symmetry on Shapes Homework is a set of worksheets to consolidate this step after it has been taught, at home or in class. Each set has been carefully designed to help you meet each child where they are at to ensure progress for every child, not just the average child. The content includes 3 levelled worksheets and a full answer sheet, covering finding vertical lines of symmetry on 2D shapes, matching halves and completing shapes.

Developing

  • Q1 matching together two halves of 4 different symmetrical shapes. Shapes have vertical lines of symmetry. All halves of shapes shown with the same orientation.
  • Q2 matching symmetrical shapes to their names where half of each shape has been covered. Shapes covered along their vertical lines of symmetry.
  • Q3 completing a symmetrical shape to match given criteria. Two sides and vertical line of symmetry provided.

Expected

  • Q4 matching together two halves of 4 different symmetrical shapes. Shapes have vertical lines of symmetry. Some halves have been rotated.
  • Q5 naming symmetrical shapes where half of each shape has been covered. Shapes covered along their vertical lines of symmetry. Some shapes rotated.
  • Q6 completing a symmetrical shape to match given criteria. One side and vertical line of symmetry provided.

Greater Depth

  • Q7 matching quarters of symmetrical shapes to the whole shape. Shapes have vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry. Some quarters have been rotated.
  • Q8 naming symmetrical shapes where three quarters of each shape has been covered. Shapes covered along their vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry.
  • Q9 completing a symmetrical shape to match given criteria. One side and vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry provided.

How do our maths homework resources work?

Our maths homework resources are not part of our adaptive maths resources, but they can be used alongside for consolidation purposes and to give children more opportunities to practise.
