Looking for further shape practice? Use this Year 2 Make Patterns with 3D Shapes to provide extra opportunity for children to consolidate their knowledge of the properties of shapes. Children will complete two varied fluency and one reasoning and problem-solving question, selected from one of the three differentiated levels. Pupils will continue patterns, create patterns and identify shapes that will not fit a pattern.

You may encourage children to cut out the cards on the third question so they can arrange them correctly. Alternatively, you could ask them to draw the shapes or write the shape names; the choice is yours!

Curriculum Objectives

  • Compare and sort common 3-D shapes and everyday objects
  • Identify and describe the properties of 3-D shapes, including the number of edges, vertices and faces
