What’s included in the Year 2 Measure in Grams Homework resource and why is it useful?

Year 2 Measure in Grams Homework is a set of worksheets to consolidate this step after it has been taught, at home or in class. Each set has been carefully designed to help you meet each child where they are at to ensure progress for every child, not just the average child. The content includes 3 levelled worksheets and a full answer sheet, covering reading weighing scales in grams, placing pointers and making masses with 2g, 5g and 10g.

Developing

  • Q1 matching objects to the appropriate reading on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 10 only.
  • Q2 placing the pointer in the correct position on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 10 only.
  • Q3 finding three ways to make a weight which has been doubled using 5g and 10g weights. Scales in increments of 10.

Expected

  • Q4 matching objects to the appropriate reading on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 2, 5 and 10.
  • Q5 placing the pointer in the correct position on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 2, 5 and 10.
  • Q6 finding three ways to make a weight which has been doubled using 2g, 5g and 10g weights. Scales in increments of 5.

Greater Depth

  • Q7 matching objects to the appropriate reading on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 2, 5 and 10. Some measurements fall between increments on the scale.
  • Q8 placing the pointer in the correct position on a weighing scale. Scales in increments of 2, 5 and 10. Some measurements fall between increments on the scale.
  • Q9 finding three ways to make a weight which has been doubled using 2g, 5g and 10g weights when 10g has already been placed on the scale. Scales in increments of 10, measurement falls between increments on the scale.

How do our maths homework resources work?

Our maths homework resources are not part of our adaptive maths resources, but they can be used alongside for consolidation purposes and to give children more opportunities to practise.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Compare and order lengths, mass, volume/capacity and record the results using >, < and =
  • Choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure length/height in any direction (m/cm); mass (kg/g); temperature (°C); capacity (litres/ml) to the nearest appropriate unit using rulers, scales, thermometers and measuring vessels
