Extend children's learning with this lovely Year 2 Missing Number Problems (up to 20) Discussion Problem activity. Children are given three different calculations where numbers are missing but with multiple potential answers. Children can work in pairs or part of a small group to discuss and work out what those missing numbers could be in order to make the calculations correct. This resource is a great way to challenge children's understanding of missing numbers in calculations and provides them with opportunities to discuss their thinking.
Curriculum Objectives
- Add and subtract numbers using concrete objects and pictorial representations, including: a two-digit number and ones; a two-digit number and tens; two two-digit numbers; adding three one-digit numbers
- Recognise and use the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction and use this to check calculations and missing number problems
