This engaging Year 4 'I' or 'Me' Application activity allows your children to put into practice what they have learnt about Standard English. This activity provides a relatable scenario of adopting a puppy and asks pupils to write the next two paragraphs from two different viewpoints in Standard English, using the pronouns 'I' and 'me'.

Children can complete this activity independently, in pairs or with adult support. We have also provided a modelled answer for you to either share with your class as a good example or to give you inspiration for your marking.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Standard English forms for verb inflections instead of local spoken forms [for example, we were instead of we was, or I did instead of I done]
