This engaging Year 4 Present Perfect or Simple Past? Application resource gives children the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and understanding of these different tenses. Using the pirate image as a visual stimulus, learners are challenged to write one paragraph in the present perfect tense and then to rewrite the same paragraph in the simple past tense.

It can also be used for a guided writing session or as part of small group work. Intervention work around tenses is also suitable for this resource. A modelled answer is provided to either share with your class as an example of best practice or to facilitate peer or self marking. Download it today!
