Alan the astronaut is exploring the plant Argus and meets some alien creatures. In this writing task children are asked to use direct speech to write a conversation between Alan and the creatures.

This Year 4 Punctuating Direct Speech Application worksheet is a great assessment tool as children use what they know about punctuating direct speech and apply it to their writing. This activity can be completed independently but could also be used as a discussion point for small groups or interventions.

The worksheet comes with a model answer which can be shared with the children as a good example or to aid your marking.
