This Year 5 Add to a Mixed Number Teaching PPT introduces children to the key skills needed before adding two mixed numbers. Pupils will learn how to add either a whole number part or a fractional part to a mixed number, preparing them for the next step of combining two mixed numbers.

The presentation is structured into Let’s Learn sections, where new concepts and vocabulary are clearly modelled, and Let’s Practise sections, where children can apply their understanding straight away through short, engaging activities.

To build confidence and deepen understanding, the PPT also includes reasoning and problem-solving questions, encouraging pupils to use their knowledge in different contexts.

The final slide provides links to extra resources to extend learning further - don’t forget to explore them!
