Allow children to showcase their knowledge of area with our Year 5 Area of Compound Shapes resource. We've created a variety of reasoning and problem solving questions for children to calculate and compare the area of compound shapes. This resource has been differentiated three ways to support all levels of challenge. Each level of challenge includes two problem solving questions and a reasoning style question with two of each type given.

This resource would be ideal to use as an independent task following a series of varied fluency questions. Alternatively, you could use this as a homework activity or in a small group intervention to allow mathematical thinking and discussion. An example answer sheet is provided to aid marking.
