Give children an extra challenge by using our Year 5 Estimate Area Discussion Problem. Children will calculate the area of irregular shapes using square centimetres and square metres. They will use the area to work out potential shapes that could be hidden, and complete a comparison statement by drawing an irregular shape.

Both questions allow for open-ended discussion. This resource could be used as an extension at the end of the lesson. Children could complete the tasks alone, in pairs or in small groups. The possibilities are endless!
