What’s included in the Year 5 Find the Whole Homework resource and why is it useful?

Year 5 Find the Whole Homework is a worksheet to consolidate this step after it has been taught, at home or in class. The content includes two varied fluency questions, one problem solving question and a full answer sheet, covering finding the whole from a known fraction of an amount in problems involving crayons, flour and paint.

Expected

  • Q1 deciding who has correctly calculated the total number of crayons in a packet when one-sixth of the packet is 8.
  • Q2 working out how much flour was in a bag to begin with when 200 g is left after three-sevenths has been used.
  • Q3 calculating how much paint was in a tin when two-fifths and one-third of it, totalling 660 ml, have been used.

How do our maths homework resources work?

Our maths homework resources are not part of our adaptive maths resources, but they can be used alongside for consolidation purposes and to give children more opportunities to practise.
