With this Year 5 Multiply a 3-Digit Number by a 2-Digit Number Discussion Problem, your children have the opportunity to build on their knowledge of multiplying two 2-digit numbers using the formal written method. This resource presents two questions that are in depth and require both reasoning and problem solving skills to answer.

An answer page is also included to give children example answers, and to also aid in their discussions of best methods to answer the questions. Use after our Modelling PPT, Varied Fluency and Reasoning and Problem Solving activities to ensure children have a firm grasp on these concepts before moving on to these trickier tasks.
