Encourage discussion and promote scientific thinking with these Year 5 Properties and Changes of Materials Concept Cartoons. They feature a range of common misconceptions that can be unpicked as pupils explain their viewpoints. Encourage children to use evidence to justify their ideas. This will reveal any gaps in their understanding so that you can target them quickly.

This resource features two statements: 'Changes of state can always be reversed' and 'When something dissolves, it disappears for good'.

Concept cartoons are flexible in their use, meaning they could be used at the beginning or end of a topic. They are also ideal for display - ensuring a knowledge rich environment to further young minds.
