What’s included in the Year 5 What is Volume? Homework resource and why is it useful?

Year 5 What is Volume? Homework is a set of worksheets to consolidate this step after it has been taught, at home or in class. Each set has been carefully designed to help you meet each child where they are at to ensure progress for every child, not just the average child. The content includes 3 levelled worksheets and a full answer sheet, covering measuring and comparing the volume of cubes, cuboids and compound shapes in cubic centimetres.

Developing

  • Q1 identifying whether a statement is true or false. Measuring volume using cm³ up to 12 cm³ using cubes or cuboids.
  • Q2 circling the odd one out using scales in multiples of 10 or 100, measurements fall on marked increments and volumes up to 12 cm³.
  • Q3 using the clues to identify the possible shape, using cubes and cuboids with a volume of up to 12 cm³.

Expected

  • Q4 identifying whether a statement is true or false. Measuring volume using cm³ up to 24 cm³ using cubes or cuboids.
  • Q5 circling the odd one out using scales in multiples of 10 or 100 where not all increments are marked and volumes up to 24 cm³.
  • Q6 using the clues to identify the possible shape, using shapes made up of two cuboids with a combined volume of up to 24 cm³.

Greater Depth

  • Q7 identifying whether a statement is true or false. Measuring volume using cm³ up to 24 cm³ using compound shapes.
  • Q8 circling the odd one out using scales in multiples of 10 or 100 where not all increments are marked and some measurements fall between increments. Volumes up to 24 cm³.
  • Q9 using the clues to identify the possible shape, using compound shapes with a volume of up to 24 cm³.

How do our maths homework resources work?

Our maths homework resources are not part of our adaptive maths resources, but they can be used alongside for consolidation purposes and to give children more opportunities to practise.
