Expected Questions to support using the conjunctions ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘or’ in sentences.
Greater Depth Questions to support using the conjunctions ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘or’ in sentences. Includes two conjunctions per sentence and up to three clauses.

Application and Reasoning
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing Remove the conjunction from the sentence and write the two sentences which were joined together. Using ‘so’, ‘and’ and ‘but’.
Expected Remove the conjunction from the sentence and write the two sentences which were joined together. Using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.
Greater Depth Remove the conjunctions from the sentence and write the three sentences which were joined together. Includes two conjunctions, using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Reasoning)
Developing Explain which sentence has used a conjunction incorrectly. Using ‘so’, ‘and’ and ‘but’.
Expected Explain which sentence has used a conjunction incorrectly. Using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.
Greater Depth Explain which sentence has used conjunctions incorrectly. Includes two conjunctions per sentence and a maximum of 3 clauses. Using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Application)
Developing Arrange 6 cards to create a sentence and add a conjunction. Using ‘so’, ‘and’ and ‘but’.
Expected Arrange 9 cards to create a sentence and add a conjunction. Using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.
Greater Depth Arrange 12 cards to create a sentence with a maximum of three clauses and add two conjunctions. Using ‘so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.
