English Year 4: (4G3.2) Noun phrases expanded by the addition of modifying adjectives, nouns and preposition phrases (e.g. the teacher expanded to: the strict maths teacher with curly hair)

Developing Questions to consolidate recognising and using different types of nouns. Includes familiar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns. Uses words taken from KS1 spelling lists and some from year 3 within single clause sentences.
Expected Questions to consolidate recognising and using different types of nouns. Includes familiar and some unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns. Uses words taken from Year 4 spelling lists within compound sentences.
Greater Depth Questions to consolidate recognising and using different types of nouns. Includes some unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns. Uses words taken from Year 4 spelling lists within multi clause sentences containing subordinating clause. Some vocabulary from Year 5 lists may also be used which are required to be read by the children but not intended to be spelled independently.

Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Application)
Developing Identify which type of noun is missing from a simple sentence using familiar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns.
Expected Identify which types of nouns are missing from a compound sentence including familiar and unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns.
Greater Depth Identify which types of nouns are missing from multi clause sentences containing subordinating clause using some unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns as well as words taken from Year 4 spelling lists.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Application)
Developing Construct a single clause sentence using a word bank of familiar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns.
Expected Construct a compound sentence using a word bank of familiar and unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns.
Greater Depth Construct a multi clause sentence containing a subordinating clause using some unfamiliar common, proper, concrete, collective and abstract nouns.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Reasoning)
