- Help Allegra count in 25s to decide what today’s visitor limit must be. Discuss the fact that counting in 25s 30 times will give them this answer.
- 332 visitors have been this morning. How many tokens will Allegra have left for the rest of the day? Discuss how many 25s are in 332 to work out the number of tokens used and the number of tokens left over.
- How many more visitors could she now allow to enter this afternoon? Discuss how many tokens Allegra has left and how many more she has added. How does this change the limit of visitors? What calculation can be used to find the answer?
- The first locker is number 2,350. Help Jake find his locker number. He was visitor number 5. Discuss counting in 25s from the start number until 5 lots of 25 is reached. Will it work to find 5 lots of 25 and then add them to the starting number? Why?
- Work out the possible combinations of their codes. Discuss counting in 25s from the start number until 9 lots and 23 lots of 25 is reached. Discuss the possible combinations of these four digits. This question is open-ended for the children to explore.
- Help her complete the labels correctly. Discuss counting in 25s from the start number of 2,350.
- Help Allegra change the fundraising target numbers so that it correctly counts up in 25s. Discuss where to start counting from on the target board. If the total is labelled correctly, is it better to start counting backwards from there?
- If the chart is correctly labelled, how much money has been collected so far? Discuss counting in 25’s from the start number of 100 until the current total is reached. Is there a quicker way to find the total without counting from the start number?
