This EYFS Phonics Bingo Phase 2 Set 2 game enables children to practise identifying initial sounds in words. The picture boards should be given out to individual children and the letter cards cut up and placed face down in the centre. Children take turns to turn over a letter card, read the grapheme and match it to the corresponding image. The supporting adult can offer guidance by giving the child a choice of two, for example mmm, what is the matching picture? Is it mmmoney or a nnnet? This will help the child hear the initial sound in the words. Alternatively, the images can be cut up and placed on top of the graphemes. However, this is an easier skill as children are finding the matching letter rather than reading the letter to start with.
