Find Change Lesson
*This Year 2 Find Change lesson covers the prior learning of solving subtractions by finding how many are left, before moving onto the main skill of finding the difference between two amounts of money.
The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.
National Curriculum Objectives
Mathematics Year 2: (2M3a) Recognise and use symbols for pounds (£) and pence (p); combine amounts to make a particular value
Mathematics Year 2: (2M3b) Find different combinations of coins that equal the same amounts of money
Mathematics Year 2: (2M9) Solve simple problems in a practical context involving addition and subtraction of money of the same unit, including giving change
