# Fraction of an Amount Lesson

This Year 6 Fraction of an Amount lesson covers the prior learning of finding unit and non-unit fractions of amounts, before moving onto the main skill of finding a fraction of an amount.

The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. If they need more practice, you can choose other resources for that step. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.

National Curriculum Objective
Mathematics Year 6: (6F6) Associate a fraction with division and calculate decimal fraction equivalents [for example, 0.375] for a simple fraction [for example, 3/8]
