The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark Chapter 1 Comprehension Whole Class Guided Reading

The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark Chapter 1 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter one of the popular story by Jill Tomlinson.* We recommend using this novel with Year 2. In the first chapter, Plop (a baby barn owl) tells his mum that he is afraid of the dark and wants to be a day bird. His mum suggests that he should get to know more about the dark before he makes up his mind! So Plop goes to speak to a boy who is collecting fire wood for a bonfire. The boy explains that he is excited about the dark as that is when the fireworks start. Plop and his parents enjoy watching the fireworks in the dark.
